Coal India Limited has officially released the Management Trainee (MT) Recruitment 2026 notification under Advertisement No. 03/2026, opening one of the biggest PSU recruitment drives of the year. The recruitment process will be conducted for Executive Cadre posts in E-2 Grade across multiple technical and non-technical disciplines.

According to the official notification dated May 5, 2026, a total of 660 vacancies have been announced, including both fresh and backlog vacancies. The recruitment drive is expected to attract a massive number of applicants due to Coal India’s strong PSU pay structure, executive-level career progression, and nationwide postings across subsidiaries.

Educational Qualification Requirements

Candidates must possess the required educational qualification from a recognised university or institute. The eligibility criteria differ discipline-wise.

For engineering disciplines such as Mining, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, System, and Electronics & Telecommunication, candidates are generally required to possess a relevant full-time engineering degree with minimum qualifying marks.

For Finance discipline, candidates should possess qualifications such as CA/ICWA.

For Marketing & Sales, MBA/PG Diploma in Management with specialisation requirements has been prescribed.

Environment discipline applicants are required to possess environmental engineering or related educational qualifications as specified in the official notification.

Age Limit Criteria

The upper age limit for General and EWS category candidates is 30 years as per the notification.

Relaxation in the upper age limit is applicable for reserved categories according to Government rules:

  • OBC (NCL): 3 years
  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • PwBD: Additional relaxation applicable
  • Departmental candidates: As per norms

Selection Process

Coal India has prescribed the Computer-Based Online Test (CBT) as the primary mode of selection for the Management Trainee recruitment process.

The CBT will consist of two papers:

  1. Paper-I: General Knowledge, Reasoning, Numerical Ability and General English
  2. Paper-II: Professional Knowledge related to the relevant discipline

The final merit list will be prepared based on marks obtained in the CBT. Candidates shortlisted after the examination will be called for document verification and medical examination.

Salary Structure

Selected candidates will be placed in E-2 Grade.
